Well, I have no pics today (the memory on my computer is filled up with all those pics I take...gonna get an external hard drive soon), but I wanted to quickly post a big THANK YOU!!!! to all my family and friends who made Mother's Day and my Birthday so special today. From the cards and gifts and money to the flowers and surprise cake last night at the Duell's I have had just a wonderful birthday today. For those of you who didn't know...I turned 30 today. It's so weird...I still feel like I'm 23 and I'm not quite sure why! Well, 30 is great and I feel loved and wonderful, so thank you all!

p.s. Desi took our friends to the airport today. Richard and Thomas were here from the Richmond, Virginia area for 3 days. They are ministry partners who oversee 11 simple churches and we were so blessed to have them come out and stay with us this weekend. They are just amazing men who love God and shared a wonderful message of the Kingdom with our church Saturday night. I'll share more about that here later. Well, we hope to continue and deepen our friendship with them and this weekend sure did that...we were blessed, encouraged and inspired. Pics to come soon too!

Happy Mother's Day!
To all the beautiful, wonderful and inspirational women in my life: Happy Mother's Day! Mom and Jan-may your days be blessed! I am so thankful to have you two as my moms! I value your friendship, wisdom and joyful attitudes. I thank God always for you when I remember you-knowing that my kids will have such fond memories of you and all the wonderful things you do with them. You are such beautiful women and the love you have for God and your family shines through all you do.
To the rest of you beauties out there...to you who are single, widowed, married, divorced, have adopted a child, have lost a child or are praying for a child to hold in your arms...we are all on this journey together and need each other every day. Thank you to those who have been like a mother to my kids or your friend's kids or your neices or nephews...you make a difference in our lives and we are blessed because of it. May you find peace and joy tomorrow no matter how you spend your day! Check out Girl Talk to read their last 4 posts...beautiful posts on all aspects of motherhood...you won't regret reading them!
To my own kiddos: You have taught me what unconditional love is in such an amazing way...you have caused me to grow and streatch in ways I could not have without you. You inspire me to live in a way that pleases my Heavenly Father. You bring so much joy (and noise) to my life and I would be lost without you. I have messed up and sinned against you countless times and have apologized, prayed with you and you have forgiven me. I have gained small insight into the sacrafice God made in sending His Son to die on the cross to pay for our sins. He sacraficed His ONLY SON! What an amazing free gift of grace to us...His adopted children!
I am amazed to see God working in your life Hope, and to see you growing into a beautiful little girl who truly loves God and her family...who is blessed artistically and with the gift of giving and hospitality at such a young age. Owen, you are growing so fast and have a tender heart toward your family. Thank you for being the man of the house when daddy is gone. Emmaline, you have quite a strong personality and I am excited to see where it takes you...I know you won't take nothing from nobody when you're older! I love your kisses and cuddle time. Levi, you are so little still and yet that sparkle in your eye when you look at me...well, words cannot describe. I am amazed at how much I am enjoying your babyhood (being the 4th and all) it's like you're my first baby sometimes!
To my husband: You make motherhood such a blessing. You are an amazing husband and daddy and I truly cannot imagine having someone better suited to me. Thank you for pushing me closer to God and dwelling with me in understanding! I love you for you and all you do!

I'm It!
I’ve been tagged by Toni (a fellow MFW user and blogging sister).
I’ll write 10 facts and/or habits about me.
- I’ll tag 10 people.
- If you’ve been tagged, you do your own list and tag 10 more people. (”No tag backs.”)
1. My husband proposed to me in a rabbit suit. His reasoning: “No one can resist a cute bunny rabbit!” I said yes (of course)! Just celebrated out 8 year anniversary on May 1st. For all you singles out there…don’t pick the 1st for your wedding day…it creeps up and surprises you every year!
2. As a child my first pet was a fish. Finally dad allowed me to get a hamster! Oh joy! Well, I came into my room one day to find foot powder sprinkled all over the cage and poor Wiskers was dead. My little brother apparently thought Wiskers would like all that powder! We buried him in the backyard.
3. Every summer I would spend a glorious week alone at my mom’s parent’s house. The best part was cooking with Grandma Nina, staying up late watching Laurel & Hardy or John Wayne or old classics with Grandpa Dave, playing with Grandpa’s train sets, swimming and having ice cream (x-large servings) after lunch and dinner every day!
4. My dad took our family camping in Baja California Mexico three different Easter weeks while I was growing up. It’s a long two day drive from So California where we lived. We stayed at Playa De Requeson (that is totally not spelled right) where we camped in tents on the sand right next to this beautiful, clear, shallow and warm bay. One year on the way back (in our 15 passenger Ford van towing a 15 ft sailboat) dad thought he had a tick in his leg and swerved off the road while trying to get it off his leg. Poor mom almost had a heart attack! On that same trip we got stuck in a traffic circle in Tijuana and must have gone around 6 or 7 times before we got out!
5. My boys were born super fast and natural (wow that really does HURT like HELL) and the girls took forever so I got epidurals with them (easy and pain free).
6. I am a neat freak and love everything to be in it’s place, but have had to give up on that in order to pay attention to my husband and children (not to mention home educating Hope). I do have a Rose Jr. in training though and soon enough we’ll get this house back in ship shape condition! Mind you, I do cook, do dishes and laundry and clean the bathrooms and floors when necessary! Two jobs I detest: cleaning the bathtub and mopping.
7. My ideal afternoon would be poolside with iced tea, a good book and someone to look after the kiddos in the pool!
8. I have recently become addicted to riding our Vespa scooter. There is an amazing sense of peacefulness and refreshment that comes from riding around the city on it. Perhaps it’s the alone time with no music or cell phone? I noticed today how GREEN it is around here! I love the changing seasons!
9. My parents were going to name me Sarah until my cousin was born (six months older than me) and named Sarah. Rosemary is the name of a great aunt of my father’s. My middle name is my mother’s first name: Kathleen. I love my names.
10. I have 5 grandparents (3 still living), 14 aunts & uncles (13 still living), 13 cousins (not counting spouses, and 10 2nd cousins. They live in California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Missouri, and Australia (as far as I know). My mom’s mom- Nina Lee Wilkinson died when Hope was 10 months old and is my spiritual hero. She made the most impact on my life because of her faithfulness to her husband, family and the people God put in her life. She was constantly in prayer and encouraging everyone around her. She took things in stride, was a wonderful cook, beautiful pianist, hand made clothes and gifts, really fun to play cards with, took time to listen and kept her lipstick and cash in her bra! Go grandma!

New ability: Levi pulls himself up on all sorts of things lately...and more often than not, loses his grip or balance and tumbles to the ground. After some momma cuddling and thumb sucking, he's back to pulling up again!

Red Rocks in the Spring
On the way home from Breck, we stopped at Red Rocks. I've posted pics awhile back of Red Rocks (last fall sometime). The first thing I noticed was how GREEN it was...that's spring for ya! The Starrs had never been and really enjoyed it.
There is a cool gift shop/music hall downstairs with all the concerts ever played listed by year. The kids enjoyed the drums and keyboard.
Hope was on this sucker for a while. She gravitates to keyboards...I may need to start checking Craig's List for a used one...her birthday is in October...hmmmm... Wouldn't it be great to have a musician in the family?!
We arrived between rain storms and it was just stunning to be there...until I noticed these guys in bicycle attire...way to go with the spandex! A TON of peeps were riding up to Red Rocks and or excercising in the ampitheater. Running switchbacks on each row, or doing big lunges, or running down and up....then we spied a guy with a video camera....looked at the direction he was filming and saw this guy on a unicycle trying to jump down from planter to planter. I managed to get this shot before he biffed it so bad that he broke off a pedal. Yeah, no helmet is a great call...am I crazy, or could he get a major concussion if his head hits the ground? I'm just glad he had to quit due to the broken bike so I didn't have to dial 911! (Click on any pic to see it bigger)

We enjoyed Bubba Gump Shrimp Co for dinner-YUM! Life IS like a box of chocolates! Our hotel had a room with a big screen that we used to watch a Nuggets basketball game.

We enjoyed spending time with our friends Bruce & Karen.
Aunt Shannon is a wonderful Auntie! Main Street is so quaint...we were in walking distance from all sorts of shops and eateries. Desi and I went back to Bubba Gump (I love their coconut shrimp!) for lunch to celebrate our 8 year anniversary. Thanks for babysitting Starrs! We went for a walk after lunch and found this wonderful toy store with tons of hands on toys in the back. Later that day we brought the whole family back to play (it was snowing-not swimming weather!). We had a wonderful trip and are so thankful that we got to go!

You Want Good Food?
So, I have been swapping some receipes with a few friends (recently recommended some on this blog) and we came up with the idea of a blog that would allow people to share recipes that they like as well as to print recipes that others have posted. My talented friend Kameron has created a new blog to share these wonderful tasty treats. So
check it out here and subscribe (see the right side bar when you visit the site), you can get the new recipes as they are posted delivered directly to your inbox. To make it easy for EVERYONE to participate (because that will be the key to its success, of course), all you have to do is send an email to the site's email address with your recipe included. There are more details on the site itself as far as what to include in your email, but it is really quite easy. Anyway, we hope that you enjoy it!

Um, yeah, it's been a struggle to get back into it this week after being gone...what is that all about? Well, I plan on putting up the rest of our Breck pics tomorrow :) The kids and I planted 4 tomato plants today- those squirrels better leave 'em alone or I'll have to resort to the super soaker (it's pretty intertaining to try to shoot the city squirrells with the squirt guns). I also have magnificiant plans to plant sunflowers, carrots, squash, beans, corn and mini zinis. I ask you to hold me accountable to this ;)
I had a rough day yesterday (a friend of mine went back to drinking and I spent awhile talking to her Sunday night) and the kids were just their normal selves with a bit more bickering thrown in. Desi was gone all day doing fun things with a close friend and I was getting my pity party going on...so not good. I called him crying...wishing I had a good friend, wondering why God saw fit to make me a mother when I do so horribly at it sometimes, you know...not good. Well, I asked him to pray for me and God graciously pulled me out of my dumb pit of dispair. By the time Desi came home I was feeling better. He got $5 pizza and after eating told me to go out and be alone for awhile (something I needed). I went to WalMart to see if the lines have gotten any shorter in the past year (NO)...I'll be back to Target from now on! I did come across the plants and seeds and found Hope a new bike for only $34.00-new bikes are so inexpensive! She's been riding a bike sized for a two year old...high time for one her own size! Pictures to come soon. I then went onto Barnes & Nobel, got a coffee and walked around all the sale bookshelves for a few hours...how fun! I bought a few things for Desi's bday, my bday and the kiddos. I cannot resist books! I bought the 1st Little House on the Prarie book to read aloud to Hope :) and a book called Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. I'll let you know how it is. That's so where I sin and struggle so often-in my thought life, which taints other areas of my life...but I know God is bigger than that and can help me and can change my mindset...I am not meant to live the "easy" life, but rather live "at ease" in whatever situation (often not fun) He puts me in, which gives Him all the glory and sets such a powerful example to those around me aka...my kiddos!
Well, it's late and I have rambled on and on. Time for a little shut eye before my caortic (that's orderly chaos) day begins.

I prayed over and skimmed the Battlefield book. I had a few friends warn me about Meyer...I know she's said some wacky things, but I had read part of a chapter in the store that was really good, so I was curious. I went chapter by chapter last night and realized that I'd do a whole lot better to just do a word study on my own regarding the things I am struggling with. So thanks to you two friends who said something...I'm gonna take the book back and get out my Strong's and chain reference Bible...

Breckenridge
We just got back today from a few days in Breck. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for free through a connection to this guy who wants to provide nice vacations for pastors and missionaries. I had hoped for warm sunny weather, but alas, we had a lot of cold snowy weather! Oh well! We had a great time and I thought I'd have internet, but it wasn't free, so I am catching up on my favorite bloggers :) Here's one pic from our trip and I'll post more later.
