Black Friday at Lowe's

OK, so I had decided to not go anywhere on the biggest shopping day of the year, but the radio advertisment for Lowe's got me! We have had a 3ft pre-lit christmas tree for the past 6 years and last year it began dying. We have wanted a taller tree, but they are sooooooooo expensive! Well, Lowe's was selling a 6ft pre-lit tree for $25 Friday only, while supplies last of course. I awoke with Owen and Hope, got them breakfast and was on the road by 7:45. I got my bargain and was back home quickly. We had to set up the tree right away, and the box seemed more exciting than the tree until we plugged the tree in.

We told the kids that we'd decorate it as soon as it snows, or December 1st whatever comes first! The kids ate dinner on the floor next to the tree that night!

FYI: I guess it's called Black Friday because it's a make it or break it day financially for a lot of retail businesses. I learn something new every day!

Thanksgiving 2005

This year for Thanksgiving we were invited to Bruce and Karen Duell's house. They have a home church and our church and their group are merging. We have started to meet at their house Sunday nights and hope to find a building to meet in as soon as possible. Rose has been dealing with a lot of morning sickness and pure exhaustion, so it was great to bring a side and not have to clean our house or do a lot of cooking! Rose's parents and brother came as well.

We celebrated Carrie Schnur's 40th birthday with suprise confetti...which the kids loved of course!

Paul Gillis, Desi, Kate Gillis and Jason Gillis (Rose's family). We found the second TV in the house to watch the Broncos game. Broncos brought home a victory!

Hope and Elijah Duell(Bruce & Karen's grandson)

Emma and Josiah Duell(Elijah's 1 month old brother)

Thanks to the Duell family for a wonderful meal, great hospitality and fellowship!

Thanksgiving Dinner Outreach at the Dokes House

The Tuesday before Thankgiving, Dwayne and Aimee Dokes held an open house sort of Thanksgiving meal for their neighbors. God provided a huge smoked turkey that was donated by a local shop, a ham was given by someone else, and gals from the church brought sides. Aimee made her wonderful cornbread stuffing, Monica made the best greens ever and there were at least 6 pies. The food barely fit on the table! Aimee said they had about 36 people that ate dinner there that night. It was great to meet a lot of people that live across the street in the large apartment complex. Amazingly, there were leftovers for turkey sandwiches the next day. What a great idea, and we were blessed to be a part of it. We are thinking...maybe we need to do a thanksgiving meal in June!

Emma got ahold of Ezekiel Doke's football helmet!

Thanks to all who were involved...and thank you Dwayne and Aimee for all your hard work!

Thank You Grandma Jan!

Thanks Grandma Jan (and Grandpa Des) for sending us the 8 puppies and the Madagascar DVD! We love the puppies and fight over them sometimes! We play pet shop too! Momma bought all the puppies!

A New Coat!

Emma was not too sure of the new coat at first...but then wanted to try it on...she loved it! I showed her how to put her hands in the pockets.

She wanted to eat lunch in it! What a funny girl!

Winter is finally here!

Emma tried to eat what little bit of snow there was on the ground!
Hope was the last of the kids to go out...once she did, boy did she have fun!

It's been warm most of the month, then all of the sudden it snows twice this week! Not much stayed on the ground though! Owen and Emma went out first (after 10 minutes of getting ready) and proceeded to eat the snow. Emma had to sit on the rocking horse and ride Owen's tricycle...getting her sweat pants all wet in the process! After about 30 minutes, we were all cold and came in. Off came the pile of snow gear...new pants and socks for all...time to get warm! Oh, the joys of childhood! Love, Rose

November 2005 Update
Thanks again to all who have committed to help support our ministry here in Denver. At the beginning of Oct. We sent out 180 newsletters with postcards asking people to consider partnering with us. As of 11/8/05, we have received 24 replies and are at 40% support, with 20 monthly partners.
We bought a new computer for Rose last month and have set up all our files. What a blessing to have a computer that runs well! Rose has volunteered to be the church Financial Secretary temporarily. Pray that God would raise someone else up within the 6 months. Rose has no experience in bookkeeping, but is learning a lot with Quicken and things are running smoothly….Thank You Lord!
We have begun to have monthly game nights to get our group together to have fun. It'’s been great to enjoy a meal and laugh together!
Every 4th Sat. of the month we are serving lunch at Sox Place (the building we meet in). It'’s a great chance to serve.
Hope'’s Birthday was Oct. 30th and we celebrated with a small party at her grandparent'’s house. Desi'’s folks were out on a visit to celebrate their first grandchild turn 5! Hope was excited to announce that God has given her a special birthday gift...mommy is pregnant! The baby is due at the end of June and we are blessed and excited!
Please Pray! We are looking for a new place to meet that will be warm this winter! Sox Place will not work for winter and does not allow for growth of our kids ministry…so, we'’re excited to see what God does! We will join Bruce and Karen Duell at their house (starting Nov.20) until a better place comes up. Desi, Dwayne and Bruce have put together a proposal to give to Antioch Baptist (3 blocks from our house). They will consider letting us use their church for Sunday evenings starting Jan 1st. Pray for Desi and I as well. We are starting a book called Love & Respect and are setting at least 1 night a week to read a chapter and go through the workbook. The Dokes are going through the book as well and recommended it to us. Have a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends. We love you.
Love, Desi, Rose, Hope, Owen, Emmaline & Baby

We are extremely grateful to
you, our ministry partners for
your sacrificial generosity. We
