Today was another wonderful day. Thanks to all who are praying. This group of jr highers from Faith Evangelical Free Church is awesome!!!! There is something so energetic about these middle schoolers...they are full of smiles, are quick to help and just get in the middle of everything and make it all happen. Their leaders are wonderful too. We are really connecting with this group and hope to stay connected and plan more trips like this.
Today Carrie led the group in discussion and activities where she divided them up into "families" based on an actual family she has known for years. They were in groups of four (a grandma raising her 3 grandkids). She gave them their paycheck (minimum wage) and had them pay their bills and then see what was left, which wasn't much after the uncle stole $50. Each person had a card describing who they were and what sort of things happened to them and their dreams for life, ect... It was a powerful thing for the middle schoolers to experience.
After that the team split up again and half went with Bruce for a city tour and half with Desi for a prayer walk in our neighborhood. VBS was wonderful again. It's a western theme and everytime someone says "God is real" or "God is with us" the kids all shouted "YAHOOOOO". There were songs, games, face painting, crafts, snacks and a Bible story. The really cool thing is that we have connected with a young mom of two little ones whose name is Afton and seems to be really interested in getting involved in church. Please pray for her that we'd stay connected. She's not a big fan of her husband's friends and wants her kids around "good" kids rather than "wild" ones...does that make sense? I think we could connect. She'll be there tomorrow for our last day.
One of the leaders also talked to another woman who is interested in talking to Bruce, so pray that she comes tomorrow and comes over to our area...she "wasn't ready" to come over today.
We were hoping to pay for all the kids to go swimming tomorrow, but it looks like it's gonna be cold, so we're going to BBQ in the park and do more VBS and games. Pray that lots of the neighbors come out and we can have some good conversations and make some connections.
We are blessed and just want to give God the glory for everything going so well! As I write this the group is at a Rockies game sitting in the "Rock Pile" where tickets are $5 bucks. Desi took Hope and Owen and I put our two little ones to bed early. Our kids just love VBS and have hit it off with the group. Tomorrow is another full day and we're so excited!

I still remember when I was a little girl going to VBS at a local church. I kept a little bookmark I made forever. You guys are all doing such a great job! God is Great!
