CARS!

We just happened upon these CARS in front of the children's museum on Thursday. The kids loved seeing them in real life!

Mt. Rushmore (Part 3-road trip)

Well, here they are: a few pics from Mt.Rushmore! It was amazing to actually be there! The facility is beautiful. We had lunch and explored the museum. After a few hours we got back in the surburban and drove through Rapid City and on into Deadwood. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and had a much better night's sleep. It seems the whole town of Deadwood is old (and new) hotels with casinos in the lobby. One hotel was a sort of museum with cars, motorcycles and clothing worn in movies. Notice Herbie the Love Bug and Magnum PI's Ferrarii. On Friday we headed back home down through Wyoming. We got back into Colorado just as the sun was setting. Thanks again for the great trip Tim.

Road Trip Part 2

These pics are all from day 2 of our trip (except for the first one-we rented this fun little cabin the first night). Tim drove us to Crazy Horse and we opted to take pics from the side of the road instead of paying the outrageous $25 to get closer. I took a pic of Tim's flier to give you an idea as to how far the project has come and how far it has to go. Maybe Levi's great grandson will see it's completion. Check out www.crazyhorse.org for more pics. We continued on our journey and Tim drove us to this beautifully scenic lake. We decided to take the short hike around it. Most of these pics are from that hike. I couldn't stop taking pics. The kids loved the hike, except at the end when it got pretty cold! Since we were in a protected area, the wildlife weren't really scared of our vehicle, so we got pretty close. The Black Hills of South Dakota are incredible...really more amazing that I would have thought! I'll be back for sure :)
Part 3 (Mt. Rushmore) coming soon...time for bed!

If you don't like the weather, hang on a bit, and it'll change!

Yesterday was a free day at the Denver Botanic Gardens, so we had a picnic there and walked around a bit.

The picture below was taken noonish today, just 24 hours from the pictures above! That's Colorado for ya!

This is the first snowfall of the year and we are so excited! By this evening, there was enough snow to draw us outdoors. We decided to make snowmen with our friend/neighbor H.

Micah was a big help in the actual building of the snowmen. Thanks for the fun Micah!

Carhenge

Some may know, we took an impromptu road trip with Uncle Tim last week. He offered his new Suburban rental, planned it all out, why not? We started up through Nebraska and our first main stop was Carhenge. It was a total surprise to me and as soon as I saw it I got so excited! I have always had an interest in cars (maybe because my brother Jason was so into them as a kid?). Alliance is in the middle of no where...and all of the sudden, you see this huge "sculpture" of old cars. The pictures speak for themselves. It was really cold, windy, and started to snow but that didn't stop us from having so much fun there! You gotta see it for yourself. Check out www.carhenge.com for more details.

More of our trip to follow!

US Population...

HITS 300 MILLION! I can't get my mind around it, but it's cool to watch the ticker at the upper right hand corner. People are being born like every couple of seconds all around the world! Check it out at www.census.gov

He's Getting Happier!

Thanks to the Dokes for lending us their exasaucer (sp?). Levi is just getting big enough to enjoy it for little spurts. He's getting happier as the days go by and the siblings are so entertaining. It's cute to see him smile at them...especially Emma Bear!

What Was He Thinking?

O.K. I am a bit embarrassed to admit it, but those who know me well, or who have lived with me know I spy a bit. I love to peek out my windows and see what's going on in the hood. Now, mind you, our street is pretty quiet (unlike our first apartment in Murrieta-way busy-fun!). We do have this one neighbor though...he lives across the street and is a nice enough guy. We call him the Rev...I guess he's a reverend or something, but we can't quite figure him out. Sometimes he's the friendliest...yelling hello to us from his apartment door...other times it's like he doesn't even see us. I think he may be on some sort of meds ;) Well, he provides me with a bit of entertainment. Yesterday was one of the best times to catch him. I was holding Levi, Hope was working on her writing/phonics at the table, and I went to the window. I happen to see his car backed up to his front door and there seems to be a dryer or something like that in his trunk. He is in the process of putting a STOVE on top of this and before you know it (but you could see it coming) the stove tips over the tip of the trunk and crashes down on his rear window. I could tell he was bummed, but he proceeded to strap it down and then he drove off. These are a few of the pics I took from my window. Sorry for the blurr :)
