Butterfly Pavillion -2nd Visit

We went to the Butterfly Pavillion again last Monday. We got a membership back in October and I guess we've been quite busy since. Going twice has already paid for the membership and we'll be back again I'm sure. The first part we went in had Rosie the trantula and a TON of bugs, spiders, ect...
Emma was the first to hold Rosie...

Owen actually manned up and held her this time...he would have nothing to do with her last time!

Rosie stopped on Hope's hand. Apparently Hope has a warm hand which Rosie really liked!

Some sort of green leaf bug (big), a wolf spider (scary) and a cage FULL of cockroaches (yuck!)

We went into the actual butterfly pavillion and arrived just in time for a butterfly releasing. It was exciting to see them fly out and the zookeeper knew so much about each kind of butterfly. I guess they only live for a few weeks. He gently pulled the rest out of the cage. I guess if you touch the top of the wings they can be damaged, but the underside is ok to touch. He grabbed them between two fingers with the wings closed. It was great to get a few close ups. Butterflys are absolutely amazing.

The rest of the building has a cute "Backyard" exhibit where you can pretent to be a bug or climb in honeycomb. They have a TON of butterflys and insects on display. I am just amazed at God's creativity. We took a nice little nature walk behind the buildings and spotted a few wild rabbits. They were so cute!

Rose,
Those are awesome pictures (okay, so I'm gagging back Sunday dinner at the thought of those hairy spiders but hey, kids love that "stuff"). We had wold spiders where I lived in OH. They look like young tarantulas. They're SO gross. The butterflies though are beautiful. So are your kids.
BLessings,
