"lt is better to trust in the Lord, than to put confidence in man."-Psalm 118:8

Doubtless the reader has been tried with the temptation to rely upon the things which are seen, instead of resting alone upon the invisible God. Christians often look to man for help and counsel, and mar the noble simplicity of their reliance upon their God. Does this evening's portion meet the eye of a child of God anxious about temporals, then would we reason with him awhile. You trust in Jesus, and only in Jesus, for your salvation, then why are you troubled? "Because of my great care." Is it not written, "Cast thy burden upon the Lord"? "Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication make known your wants unto God." Cannot you trust God for temporals? "Ah! I wish I could." If you cannot trust God for temporals, how dare you trust Him for spirituals? Can you trust Him for your soul's redemption, and not rely upon Him for a few lesser mercies? Is not God enough for thy need, or is His all-sufficiency too narrow for thy wants? Dost thou want another eye beside that of Him who sees every secret thing? Is His heart faint? Is His arm weary? If so, seek another God; but if He be infinite, omnipotent, faithful, true, and all-wise, why gaddest thou abroad so much to seek another confidence? Why dost thou rake the earth to find another foundation, when this is strong enough to bear all the weight which thou canst ever build thereon? Christian, mix not only thy wine with water, do not alloy thy gold of faith with the dross of human confidence. Wait thou only upon God, and let thine expectation be from Him. Covet not Jonah's gourd, but rest in Jonah's God. Let the sandy foundations of terrestrial trust be the choice of fools, but do thou, like one who foresees the storm, build for thyself an abiding place upon the Rock of Ages.

I had just emailed a long-dist friend in TX before posting. Asking for encouragment really...she also has 4 kids (but they are a bit older). Now, I know it's not wrong to share our struggles with oneanother, but this devotional got me thinking...do I seek God first when I am struggling? Not always. Lately I have been praying for more JOY in motherhood. I think I am possibly at the HEIGHT of exhaustion in my motherhood. I don't think it'll ever be this physically exhausting again. It's the endless chores on top on endless diapers, messes, bickering and training. I am so thankful for Desi and the 4 kids God has blessed us with, but some days are overwhelming! I know I need to come to my Father God with these feelings and trust that if He has redeemed me, He can certainly help me have a better attitude in these little things in daily life that I struggle with. How dare I not trust that He will indeed carry me through!

Naked!

I have been exploring our new camera. I'd love to get to the point where I can take the kids portraits myself instead of going to the studio each year. We get an 8x10 each bday for each child, stick it in a frame in the stairwell and put the old 8x10's in an album (which is so fun to look through!). Soooo, I got a digital photo book and decided to do a "photo shoot" with Levi. Here are 2 of my favs...


A few nights later I came up to my room to get my jams on and had to change Levi. He was so cute nakie that I got the camera out and snapped some shots. Here are 2 more of my favs...


We found these glasses in the van Monday...and had to try them on Levi. As soon as Owen saw, he freaked out and had to have them... He was afraid that Levi was gonna put them in his mouth!

Uncle Brent!

Last week Brent came down for a short visit. Brent used to live in Denver and became like an Uncle to our kids. We have missed him (and his new bride Lisa) since they moved to St.Paul. We were blessed to have Brent spend the night and much of the day Friday with us.
As you can see, Levi likes him!


Desi, John, Brent & Josh...someone farted right as I started taking pictures. I took 4 photos in quick sucession and they are hillarious! This was the last shot.

Emma's New Do

Last night Owen got his hair cut with the buzzers, which he HATED. No wonder it takes us so long to cut his hair. Emma wanted a hair cut too (of course). So, I used the clippers to cut bangs for her. Lately she will take out clips and rubber bands and it's just not worth the fight. So to keep her looking less ragamuffin, I gave her bangs. I think she's at the height of pesky right now!

p.s. today we spent a TON of time outdoors enjoying 61 degree weather and sunshine! Emma picked a dandlion and promptly stuck it IN her ear. LOL! We showed her the way to put it on top of her ear but she would have none of it!

Homeschool Projects

Hope recently learned about "water power" in science. We made a water wheel out of styrofoam plates and an egg carton (sorry you have to see this Tim). We had fun making it work.

We recently read about Isreal's first kings in Hope's Bible Reader. Hope made jewels for this crown by dropping glue on foil and once it was dry, she colored them with markers and glued them on. The crown was made out of a box of crackers.

Uggg

So, I started working out last week. Boy do I not like excercising when I'm actually doing it. I have about 20 - 30 (more would be nice, but probably not realistic) pounds to lose. Four kids and four years of nursing will add a little weight to most normal women! Kameron and I were talking about how hungry we are when nursing...like unsatiable hunger most of the day! So, my plan is every morning M-F about 25 minutes on the bike. (We were totally blessed by some beautiful friends and were able to buy an upright Nordic Track bike on sale at Sears-Thank You!) So far I've done W & F last week and this morning. I am blogging about this to have my close friends keep me accountable to get moving. I am really excited to be able to do it at home :) Today I missed a morning workout, but got it in at 10 when Levi was asleep and the 3 olders were watching PBS. I am doing some push ups too and will add other bits (stomach crunches, ect) as I get used to excercising again. I totally love the energy it gives me and hope that the weight loss will help with my attitude as well :) So, pray for me to stay committed and lay off the sugar (not totally, just to lower my intake). I have a horrible sweet tooth. Thanks friends :)

P.S. Do any of you use Yahoo Instant Messenger? I just signed up so I can IM with my homegirl in Virginia Beach and was wondering if anyone else does. As a mother of 4, it's nice to be able to type-chat here and there (interruptions are not so obvious as when I'm on the phone). So, if you do-and want to chat-add me! My ID is starrjrfamily.

P.P.S. For those of you who know me well...you know what a peep I am. I have some REALLY interesting neighbors and one who is CRAZY, so I peep out of my window a LOT. It's good to know what's going on, right? Well, the house 2 doors down on the corner has been empty for what seems like forever (less than a year maybe) and has been on the market since summer? We've noticed quite a few people looking. Last week we chatted with a really nice guy who seemed interested. We are just praying for some NICE = not crazy neighbors...maybe with kids? If you want to add it to your prayer list feel free:)

8 Months Old!

My littlest man just turned 8 months old. What a cutie he is lately.



As you can see he has four teeth, is sitting up and has a dazzling smile. He is almost crawling, loves to eat and watch his siblings run around. He's finally sleeping really well at night and takes 1 to 2 naps a day. I love him so much :)
