HAIL!

We have been having April thunderstorms in August lately. This afternoon, we were out on the porch and quickly it became overcast and it started raining and hailing with BIG lightning and thunder! We had to run it the house because the wind was blowing the rain and hail sideways! Enjoy the pics!

Owen Turns 4 Today!

Owen! Our second born turned 4 today! Time really does fly by! We had a "Race Car" party for him. Owen said the house looked so wonderful...(race car decorations...checkered flags). A few friends and family came to celebrate. The kids raced matchbox cars down the sidewalk for prizes, colored with sidewalk chalk, and played with bubbles. We could even hear the Grand Prix downtown...It runs for 3 days this weekend...nice background noise for the party. We had pizza and Desi's now famous collard greens. The race car cake was a hit...but the kids liked the popsicles and gogurts even better. Owen took the time to open his cards before tearing apart the gifts. He loved the new toys, especially the nurf guns and new matchbox cars. Thank you to all who came and to those who missed it, we missed you too! Thank you for all the great gifts! We are truly blessed to have such great friends and family!

VBS at Carrie's House

This week we had a church come out to do a VBS at Carrie's House. Carrie's neighborhood kids showed up for 3 days of fun, sun and Bible! It was a great chance to build relationships and share the love of God. Click on a photo to see it full page.

The BEST Profile EVER!

Look at that profile! Alfred Hitchcock cheeks for sure! Levi's hair sticks up in the back so we decided to go with it and encourage a mohawk...pretty cute!

This is Bruce Duell, a co-pastor at APC...he's like another grandpa for our kids...they just love him and his energy and smiles!

I am teaching my son some homemaking skills...his future wife will thank me! Ha Ha!

Georgetown -August 5th, Josh's Birthday

Last Saturday we met the Kylander family up in Georgetown (45min drive from Denver) to ride the train! The historical train travels up from Georgetown to Silver Plume and back again. The kids were just about as excited as the adults were! The train arrived and they moved the engine to the other end of the train for the ride up. We sat in an open cattle car and authentic soot rained down on us! It was a beautiful overcast day (not too hot) and the surrounding mountain side is so peaceful. At the Silver Plume station, we waited while some people got off and they moved the engine to the other end for the trip back. We came to the front and watched the conductor hook up the engine. We decided to sit in the front car which seemed like a good idea at the time, but as soon as the train took off, we realized our mistake...the train "whistle" was so loud the kids had to put their hands over their ears...Owen hid behind Josh! We walked around the little downtown, notice the sign on an old jail, and found a place to have lunch. What a fun day! Happy Birthday Josh!

Is it wrong that our cat is heavier than our 6 week old baby?

A couple funny stories...

Yesterday afternoon, I got to go meet Aimee Dokes at the coffee shop down the street for about an hour. Upon leaving, I put Levi in the stroller, to which he replied with mad fury and frustration...he wanted to be held! So, I am saying goodbye to Aimee and this old, shirtless, toothless, very dirty but happy homeless man comes walking up. He had heard Levi crying (screaming) and wanted to take a look. Well, I guess he couldn't help himself because before I knew it, this man was touching Levi all over...stroked his arms, cheeks, head and before I could say anything leaned over and kissed Levi on the cheek! I was dumbfounded, but proceed to pull the stroller gently away and say "thank you" to this guy. He had a big smile on his face and continued on his way. Wouldn't you know it, when I looked back at Levi, he had stopped crying (red-faced screaming) and was totally calm! He was happy the whole walk home! At first I was a bit horrified at the thought of this guy touching and kissing my baby, but I quickly realized that Levi is really God's baby and if kissing my baby made that poor guy happy for a moment, than so be it. Maybe he was an angel in disguise sent to calm Levi down, who really knows!

It's finally cooled down (praise God in heaven!) so we decided to eat lunch in the backyard today. I was getting food ready and overheard Owen and Emma squabbling. Owen steps into the kitchen moments later, "Emma wants to tell on me, but can I tell on her first?" "Sure" I say. Without telling me anything, Owen proceeds to run back outside and I hear, "Emma, I told on you first! Ha Ha Ha!" They just don't get this telling on you thing, and I am not gonna help them out with it! Life with little ones is never boring!

Aunt Shannon's Visit

We had a great time listening to jazz at City Park on Sunday night. Owen sure loves his uncle!

Desi's sister Shannon was here for a week and we had so much fun with her! Thanks Shannon for all your help and taking Hope and Owen on special outings...that was special for them. -Rose
